Senior left offensive tackle Austin Hodge (79) earned Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete honors for 2016 season

WEST POINT, Ga. – Point University's starting offensive left tackle Austin Hodge (6-4, 295, SR/Cussetta, AL) has been named to the 2016 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete team by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).  A total of 325 football student-athletes earned selection to the list.


In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or Sports Information Director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved an academic standing of junior or higher.


Hodge played four seasons for Point from 2013 through 2016, and was a three-year starter.  He majored in Child and Youth Development and earned NAIA Scholar Athlete honors for the 2016 season and All-Sun Conference Academic honors in 2015 and 2016.  Hodge was a starter for the 2015 Point team that was selected to play in the NAIA post-season playoffs.
