WEST POINT, Ga. – Point University goalkeeper Natalie Brown (SR/McDonough, GA); midfielder Erin Elmore (SR/Covington, GA), and defender Linda Rodriguez (SR/Lawrenceville, GA) has been named to the 2016 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete team by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).  A total of 578 women's soccer players earned selection to the list.


In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or Sports Information Director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved an academic standing of junior or higher.


Brown, Elmore and Rodriguez also received Appalachian Athletics Conference All-Academic team honors, and Elmore was named to the All-AAC second team.  Brown started 19 matches in 2016, and allowed 19 goals (1.08 goals-against average), made 51 saves and recorded seven shutouts.  He totaled 14 shutouts in 51 career matches in four seasons and had a career goals-against average of 1.12.


Elmore scored two goals, both in conference matches, and two assists with 34 shots and 16 shots on goal in 19 starts, and totaled nine goals and eight assists in 72 career matches during her four-year career from 2013-16.  Rodriguez played in seven matches and started twice during an injury-plagued 2016 season.  She played in 14 matches in two seasons at Point.
