WEST POINT, Ga. – Point University's setter Julia Felix (FR/New Orleans, LA) was named to the Appalachian Athletics Conference (AAC) Women's Volleyball All-Freshmen Team for the 2016 season, and right-side hitter Bellah DiLascio represents Point on the AAC Champions of Character Team.

 

Felix led the Skyhawks with 857 set assists (7.45 per set) and totaled 129 kills and 13 service aces and ranked second on the team with 284 digs (2.47 per set) and tied for third with 41 total blocks (0.36 per set).  She recorded a season-high 52 assists in Point's AAC loss to St. Andrews, Sept. 24, and set 50 assists in a conference win over Tennessee Wesleyan the same day.

 

The Champions of Character Award is presented to a student-athlete from each of the 11 member schools who best demonstrates the NAIA Champions of Character core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and student leadership.  DiLascio ranked second on the team with 240 kills (1.73 per set) and fifth on the team with 31 total blocks (0.28 per set) in 111 sets in 30 matches.  She recorded 10 or more kills in 10 matches, including 24 against in Point's first AAC match against St. Andrews and 18 against Reinhardt early in the season and in the second match of the season against St. Andrews.

 

DiLascio, defensive specialist Sydney Cooley (SR/Powder Springs, GA) and middle hitter Alysia Harris (Riverdale, GA) all received AAC All-Academic team honors.  Cooley led Point defensively with 358 digs (3.65 per set), served 12 aces and ranked second on the team in service reception percentage with just 29 reception errors in 492 chances (.941).  Harris totaled 13 kills and 11 blocks in 29 sets in 12 matches.
