VALLEY, Ala. – The Point University men's swimming team swam an intersquad meet in its second home event of the 2016-17 season, and set one new school record in Nov. 5 action in the Valley Recreation Center at the Sportsplex in Valley, Alabama.

 

Raichel DeFreitas (FR/Willemstad, Curacao) set a school record of 1:19.53 and won the 100-yard breaststroke event and also won the 100-yard freestyle in 50.65 seconds and placed second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:00.31.  Francisco Santos (SO/Bogota, Colombia) swam a season-best time of 5:15.46 and won the 500-yard freestyle, and Felipe Aguilar (JR/Newnan, GA) won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.85 and placed second in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:16.02.  Taylor Nielsen (FR/Columbus, GA) won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.29 seconds and placed third in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:39.03.

 

Nielsen, DeFreitas, Aguilar and Santos teamed up to record a time of 4:18.83 in the 400-yard medley relay, and DeFreitas, Nielsen, Aguilar and Santos swam 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:38.67.

 

Charlie Donnelly (FR/Newnan, GA) provided a win in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.35 seconds and placed second in the 100-yard freestyle behind DeFreitas with a time of 59.11 seconds. Collin Bennett (FR/Newnan, GA) swam a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:21.60.

 

NEXT MEET:  Point University men's swimming, coached by Kaymee Kelly, competes next at the Brenau University Invitational in Gainesville, Ga., Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18-19.
