TOCCOA, Ga. – Point University (9-18) ended its seven-match losing streak with a 25-14, 25-21, 25-9 non-conference sweep over Toccoa Falls College (11-15), Friday, Oct. 28 in Toccoa, Ga.  The Skyhawks have won two 3-0 matches against the Screaming Eagles twice this season.

 

The Skyhawks finished with 32 kills with just 9 attack errors in 94 total attacks (.245), 32 set assists, seven service aces, 53 defensive digs and 14 total blocks, while the hosts totaled 22 kills with 21 errors in 101 total attacks (.010), 21 set assists, four service aces, 44 digs and two total blocks.

 

Right-side hitter Bellah DiLascio (SR/Homosassa, FL) led Point with seven kills in 17 attempts and had two assisted blocks, and middle hitter Danielle Garrett (SR/Conyers, GA) killed six balls and had two solo blocks and three assisted blocks.  Setter Julia Felix (FR/New Orleans, LA), Point's assists leader, finished with four kills, 25 set assists, five digs, one solo block and participated in five assisted blocks.  Middle hitter Titiana Smith (FR/Pensacola, FL) contributed four kills, one solo block and one assisted block, and outside hitter Laknea Malone (SO/Childersburg, AL) killed three balls and had two solo and three assisted blocks.  Middle hitter Charlotte Havrisik (FR/Riverside, CA), Point's kills leader, finished with three kills and one solo block, and middle hitter Alysia Harris (SR/Riverdale, GA) finished with three kills.

 

Defensive specialist Janice Morales (SR/Miami, FL) finished with a team-high 13 digs and served a season-high six aces for the Skyhawks, and libero Gabriana Nichols (JR/Pecos, TX) added 12 digs and four set assists.  Defensive specialist Sydney Cooley (SR/Powder Springs, GA) contributed eight digs and one kill, and defensive specialist Morgan Osbourne (FR/Fort Mitchell, AL) had eight digs.  Defensive specialist Tessa Burns (FR/Columbus, GA) served one ace and had four digs.

 

Junior middle hitter Kaitlin Weidner knocked down nine kills in 33 attempts and had four digs and one assisted block for Toccoa Falls, and sophomore outside hitter Katie Hall finished with eight kills and five digs.  Freshman setter Kayle Glore set 19 assists and had four digs, and freshman libero Megan Fitzgerald had eight digs and served two aces.

 

NEXT MATCHES:  Coached by Amanda Jones, Point travels on Saturday, Oct. 29, for an Appalachian Athletics Conference Three-way at Milligan College (Tenn.) against the second-place team in the AAC, Milligan College (26-6, 15-2 AAC), at 11 a.m., and fifth-place Montreat College (13-16, 11-8 AAC) at 1 p.m.
