THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Point University women's swimming team defeated one of its three opponents at the Thomas University Outdoor Quadrangular, Saturday, Oct. 15, in Thomasville, Ga.  The Lady Skyhawks defeated Keiser University, 99-71, and lost to Thomas University, 171-37, and South Georgia State College, 199-37.

 

Courteney Darrow (JR/Newnan, GA) placed third in the 200-yard backstroke event with a time of 2:30.31, tenth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:10.71 and tenth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:16.82, and also swam the first leg of Point's 400-yard medley relay and the anchor leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay.

 

Katie Johnson (FR/Hebron, Ky.) swam the third leg for both relay squads and also placed fourth in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:51.45, sixth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:15.05, and eighth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 29.70 seconds.

 

Megan Manning (SO/Deland, FL) finished sixth in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:08.24, seventh in the 50-yard freestyle in 28.70 seconds, and eighth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:01.54 and anchored the 400-yard medley relay and led off the 400-yard freestyle relay.

 

Brenna Werst (FR/Eustis, FL) swam the second legs for both relay teams and also placed third in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 3:50.66, fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:48.01, and sixth in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 3:33.18.

 

Point's women's 400-yard medley relay squad of Darrow, Werst, Johnson, and Manning finished fifth with a time of 5:10.74, and Manning, Werst, Johnson and Darrow combined their talents for a fifth-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:31.98.

 

NEXT MEET:  Point University, coached by Kaymee Kelly, swims its first-home dual meet of the season against Berry College (Ga.), Saturday, Oct. 29.  The meet begins at 1 p.m., in the Valley (Ala.) Recreation Center at the Sportsplex.
