NEWNAN, Ga. – The Point University men's cross country team placed fourth among seven schools at the 2016 SCAD-Atlanta Invitational, Friday, Sept. 30, at the Coweta County Fairgrounds in Newnan, Ga.

 

Point's Brayton Gineris (JR/McDonough, GA) finished seventh among the 56 total runners with a time of 28:10.81 over the 8000-meter course, and sophomore Tyler Agan (SO/Locust Grove, GA), who finished ninth in the 2015 SCAD-Atlanta race, finished tenth with a time of 28:15.60.

 

Race winner Marcus Lafleur from Clayton State College (Ga.) and teammate Troy Hickom covered the fairgrounds course in 26:59.81 and 27:22.71 respectively, and Clayton State won the team championship with 33 points and placed its first three runners in the top five, all five of its scoring runners in the top 14, and all seven of its runners in the top 19.

 

Second place went to University of West Georgia with 52 points, and UWG placed its top five in the top 20.  Host SCAD-Atlanta totaled 69 pints with four runners in the top 15, and Point placed fourth with 89 and its top three placed among the top 18.  Tuskegee University placed fifth with 117; Clark Atlanta was sixth with 147; and Miles College (Ala.) finished seventh with 198.

 

Besides Gineris and Agan in seventh and tenth places, four other Skyhawks competed at the SCAD-Atlanta InvitationalDrew Duram (FR/LaGrange, GA) placed 21st overall and 18th in the scoring with a time of 30:33.30, and Gage Brasher (FR/Ashland, AL) finished 27th overall and 24th in the scoring with a time of 31:48.48.  Clay Cofer (JR/McDonough, GA) placed 35th overall and 30th with a time of 32:34.26, and A.J. Taylor (JR/Jonesboro, GA) crossed the finish line in 42nd place overall and 35th in the scoring with a time of 34:15.21.
