WEST POINT, Ga. – Point University's Rebecca Guadiana (JR/Oak View, Calif.) has been named Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week of Sept. 4-11, 2016.  Guadiana has won AAC Runner of the Week honors three times during her career.


Guadiana, an All-AAC selection and the tenth-place finisher in the 2015 AAC Championships, crossed the line in first place among 35 runners with a winning time of 20:58.38 at the 2016 University of West Georgia Home Opener Cross Country Meet, Friday, Sept. 9, at the UWG Athletics Complex course in Carrollton, Georgia.


Point placed third among six schools in the women's 5000-meter event.  The Skyhawks placed three runners in the top ten, including Guadiana in first place.  University of West Georgia won the event with 30 points, placing third, fourth and fifth.  Brenau University (Ga.) placed second with 49 points, and Point, with runners finishing first, sixth and tenth, totaled 54 points.  Clark Atlanta University placed fourth with 122; Tuskegee placed fifth with 125; and LaGrange College took sixth with 128 points.
