Men's Cross Country - Fri, Sep. 9, 2016

CARROLLTON, Ga. – Point University placed second among five schools behind only University of West Georgia in the men's 5000-meter cross country race at the 2016 University of West Georgia Home Opener Meet, Friday, Sept. 9, at the UWG Athletics Complex course in Carrollton, Georgia.

 

West Georgia placed its top six runners among the first 13, including the top two runners, and totaled 28 points.  Point totaled 48 points, including places three, five and seven.  Tuskegee University finished third with 69 points, and Morehouse College placed fourth with 80, including the fourth-place finisher.  LaGrange College placed fifth with 125 points.

 

NEXT EVENT: Coached by Zachery Tyler, Point men's cross country runs next on Saturday, Sept. 17, at the University of North Georgia Invitational in Dahlonega, Ga.  The men's race is scheduled for a 9 a.m. start, and the women's race begins at 8:15 p.m.

 

POINT MEN AT UNIV. OF WEST GEORGIA MEET:  Host West Georgia freshmen Thomas Adkins and Jacob Giammarco placed first and second among 34 total runners with times of 16:53.00 and 17:30.04 respectively.  Point University's Tyler Agan (SO/Locust Grove, Ga.), an All-Conference Freshman team selection and Point's top runner in every meet last season, ran third with a 17:50.61 over the 5000-meter course.  Jeremmy Ronoh from Morehouse placed fourth in 18:09.88, and Point's Brayton Gineris (JR/McDonough, Ga.) was the second Skyhawk across the line, placing fifth with a time of 18:17.72.

 

Drew Duram (FR/Lagrange, Ga.) placed seventh with a time of 18:59.55, and Gage Brasher (FR/Ashland, Ala.) finished in 16th with a time of 20:17.13.  Clay Cofer (JR/McDonough, Ga.) placed 17th with a time of 20:34.60, and A.J. Taylor (JR/Jonesboro, Ga.) crossed the finish line in 26th place with a time of 22:10.15.
