Men's Cross Country - Sat, Dec. 20, 2014

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. - The men's cross country team has added a runner to its upcoming signing class.

Jacob Giamarco, from Alexander High School in Douglasville, Ga., is a top runner in his class. The talented runner ran the 5K in 16:43 (Region), 16:31 (Douglas Co.), 16:44 (Asics) and 17:33 (State) will be counted on to score and help lead the Skyhawks early in his collegiate career.

"Jacob was highly recommended by several people who know him well," Head Men's Cross Country Coach Michael Caldwell said. "He is a tremendous runner but an even better Christian and person. Point University is very fortunate to have Jacob coming our way."

Jacob ran at one of the top programs south of I-20 and his head coach at Alexander, Brian Robinson believes the young runner will continue to develop in the coming years.

"Jacob is probably the most improved runner I've coached, Robinson said. "He really improved over the last year. He is a hard worker and a coaches dream."

Get to know Point Athletic's newest addition, Jacob Giamarco:

Q: Why did you decide to attend Point University?

A: I love the Christian foundation of the university, the community vibe of the school, and the cross country coach. I've been blessed with God given talent that I'm to use to glorify him. Point University cross country/ distance track is a great platform for me and the team to give glory God.

Q: What do you plan on majoring in at Point University?

A: I'm not 100% decided on a major. Biblical studies/ministry is the direction I'm leaning towards.

Q: What are some of your goals that you would like to accomplish at Point University?

A: as far as athletics go, the goal is to lead the boys cross country and distance track team to conference and possibly national titles. Ultimately, I want to glorify God on a whole new platform. As far as academics go, the goal is to study whatever it is I'm to study, graduate, and live a life according to God's perfect will whether it be international missions or owning my own business and everything in between.
