ALBANY, Ga. -- The first eight finishers to cross the line on Saturday were wearing a Skyhawk singlet as the Lady Skyhawk's dominated the completion at Darton State College.

Point women's cross country finished with a perfect score of 15 points (first 5 finishers were all on the same team) and had nine of the Top-11 finishers in the race. Junior, Samantha Greenlee was the overall winner winning by 15 seconds.

The next three finishers for the Skyhawks were freshman Becky Guadiana, Haley Johnson and Alycea Heredia. Rounding out the Top-5 was junior Savannah Hanna. Finishers six through eight were Jacqueline Escobedo (Sr.), Maegan Garritson (Jr.) and Shelby Garritson (Jr.). The remaining finishers for Point were, Esther Estrada (Sr. 11th overall), Allison Mangham (Jr. 18th overall), Christina Askew (Fr. 22nd overall), Katie Crumbley (Sr. 23rd overall), Tia Pullens (So. 27th overall) and Kati Williams (So. 28th overall).

Head women's cross country coach Michael Caldwell was impressed with his team's performance.

"This was a good race for us to get the nerves out and see how the runners would respond in a race environment," Caldwell said. "The competition will be much more difficult as the season goes on so the girls are going to have to continue to work hard in practice and stay focused. The result of the race today was satisfying, but we are going to have to really step it up to be considered one of the top teams in our conference."

The Skyhawk's will be back in action this Friday, Sept. 5, as they travel to Milligan College to run against some of the Appalachian Athletic Conference's top teams.

"This will be a tremendous test for our women, Milligan who comes in ranked 11th in the nation has dominated our conference," Caldwell said. "Winning it 11 straight years and Tennessee Wesleyan who received votes in the preseason NAIA national poll may have their best team ever."
